Budget-Friendly Contour Palette | Product of the Month | MUNAZZA BANGASH

Contouring has been in trend for a very long time, and is here to stay. We all love a bit of contour on our face, at the very right place, of course, to create that shadow. Whether it be a light sweep of ashy taupe shade, or full on drag, or even an orange bronzer (used sinfully in place of contour); this trend is for everyone!

There are a lot of contour palettes in the market, but the good ones are usually very expensive. If you’re just starting out as a makeup artist, or if you’re a makeup lover but can not afford such fancy shmancy palettes for contour, I’m here to the rescue. I have been on a hunt for a good contour palette that doesn’t cost me a kidney for a long time. A while back, I found it, and have been using it ever since! It’s the Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette.

We all know how Makeup Revolution is an affordable brand with a hit or miss for quality (mostly hits, considering the price point). Yeah, we don’t like a copy cat, sure, and we don’t like when they produce products that seem less “inspired” and more copied. However, their products are always useful for people who are just starting out with makeup or are in the market for budget friendly makeup products. This palette is one such product.

The Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette is OG, and I personally love using it. The Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette also gives a similar finish with a much cheaper price point. Of course, the shade and light palette can not be matched, but it’s still a pretty good alternative. If you want to be the contour queen, however, I would suggest you invest in the shade and light palette.

_DSC0174What I love most about this palette, other than its price point, is the fact that it has two face powders, two contour powders, a bronzer, as well as two shade of highlighter, and one shade that can be used for inner corner or browbone highlight, as well as an eyeshadow. So it’s really a wholesome palette. I usually use it for the contour shades, but for many it can be quite multipurpose and useful.

Quality wise, it is not patchy, not too pigmented nor too sheer. The highlighters are good for a light glow (not an intense one). The bronzer is subtle, not too orange at all. It has a lighter taupe shade as well as a dark contour shade (which I like to mix), that can create the perfect shade on the face. It also as a yellow compact powder which is perfect for the under eyes to brighten up that area.

One thing I’ve noticed with this is that if you use a good quality brush, it’s going to give you maximum result, it doesn’t quite work well with a fluffy brush (unless you want a very light sweep of shade). Other than that, this has worked out for me great!

It is easily available on Makeup Revolution outlets in Pakistan. The one I know of is in Chase Value, and I don’t know the exact price (because it’s been a long time since I’ve started using it), but you can get it in under 2000 PKR.

Following are some of the looks I’ve used this contour palette in.

All in all, I just wanted to write a quick post on this long overdue update about this contour palette before I can hop on to others in line. I hope this post helped you!
